what can we do when people put false or completely inaccurate reviews of our business on the internet?
This is a great question. All businesses will have unhappy customers, and nowadays, anyone can publish negative info on the web. People are way more likely to publish negative complaints, than good reviews.
Fighting a single complaint however, is not a good use of your time. You are better off out-publishing the negative with positive info. Specifically, I recommend getting your business listed on Google Maps local for free, where you can post info about your business, including videos for free and FREE REVIEWS FROM HAPPY CUSTOMERS.
And you can post your business on private directories with reviews such as childcareratingz.com.
You may have to ask some happy customers to give you a good review, but you can do that by sending them an email with the link to your listings. I usually send my clients an email that asks: “Give Us A Grade!” with a link to the directories like Google local business and ChildCareRatingz.com that make giving reviews easy.
You should also use a blog from http://www.wordpress.com (free) to have a quick and ez way to keep the public and parents updated on your business on line so they can see at while they are at work. Twitter is also a new, EZ free way to publish positive info on your business.
The search engines will only index a single complaint for a short time if there is other info about your business out there – especially new info. That is why it is important to publish on the web. Its easier than ever now, and does not need to take a lot of time. Try twitter to start. That is a better way in my opinion to spend your energy.
